Well its been over month since I found the www.nikon-digital.ca forums and I am adding a recommendation here to those new and old in the art of photography.
The forum is full of knowledgeable people, who are keen to share both tips and knowledge as well as displaying their work with a sense of pride.
I have become a moderator (as I am a pseudo-Calgarian, currently living in Malta and as such able to moderate in a time zone outside of the regular Canadian hours).
I offer this forum to anyone interested in photography (and not just those using Nikon digital equipment - I am still using film and am quite welcome in the forums).
Well I have decided to get back to basics and bring photography back into my life in a bigger way. I do miss how many hours I used to spend as a teenager wandering around the local nature reserve with my Practica MTL-5B.
I have my Nikon digital (a D700 with mostly Nikon glass) and have just purchased a Nikon F5 from keh.com in the US. (PLUG: KEH Rock! the F5 is in pristine condition and was delivered to me in Canada in less than 20hours).
I think shooting film will help me re-learn the basics - exposure, composure and subject. I mean its all too easy to fire off 100’s of shots with a digital SLR; but film costs money to buy and develop.
I am hoping to get out into the country near Calgary over the next few weeks with both cameras.
