Battlestar comes to an end

Posted on March 21st, 2009 by Raquel in General, review

Well tonight airs the final episode of BSG.

I am sad and excited at the same time as I wait to watch the climax of this legendary series.

The UN recently hosted the Quorum of the Twelve and that will go down in history I am sure.

I am not going to write one word of spoiler (not for a few days anyways)…..

The International 7/10

This movie was very entertaining.

I liked its pace and the plot was intelligent enough to be believable. The pace kept up with the plot and only a few ‘ooh didn’t see that coming’ moments.

The ending I found great; no cliche, no fuss, just a good ending for a suspense thriller.

SmugMug

This is the photo gallery/e-cart provider that I chose to go with. Having read many reviews of alternative products this seemed to be the one for me.

I bumped into only one problem in that my trial was about to expire before I was ready to sign up (moving countries puts a strain on the budget). I emailed Smugmug support explaining this and they immediately extended my trial period to allow me the grace to get sorted and pay for my membership!

What excellent service indeed.

Nikon Digital Photography forums

Posted on March 9th, 2009 by Raquel in General, Photography

Well its been over month since I found the www.nikon-digital.ca forums and I am adding a recommendation here to those new and old in the art of photography.

The forum is full of knowledgeable people, who are keen to share both tips and knowledge as well as displaying their work with a sense of pride.

I have become a moderator (as I am a pseudo-Calgarian, currently living in Malta and as such able to moderate in a time zone outside of the regular Canadian hours).

I offer this forum to anyone interested in photography (and not just those using Nikon digital equipment - I am still using film and am quite welcome in the forums).

The Watchmen 3/10

Posted on March 9th, 2009 by Raquel in General, Ranting, review

..what a load of old trollop. I was so bored during this film that I started to chew my own toes.

On a more serious note - I found the film to have too much emphasis on character development and not enough movement to the running storyline. For a person like me, (who knew nothing of the Watchmen mythos before watching), it was somewhat of a let down in terms of plot and action.

I would have to give it a 3/10 purely for the few moments of nice action and story. The rest is lost as the bad guy was flimsy (and totally predictable), and the movie as a whole just simply did not work for me.
